The Great Ocean Road Part 2

March 6th - 8th - The Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia

Firstly, apologies for the lack of blogging activity. We have been in Cuba and the internet is pretty much non-existent there. Also, I am aware of how behind we have gotten so will try to catch up!

After our night sleeping under the Koalas, we set off quite early as the weather was pretty cold and miserable and we had no electricity or running water!!

We were headed for a town called Geelong near Torquay, a surfing town just outside of Melbourne.
Along the way we saw some beautiful coastal scenery and stopped off in a nice little seaside town for some food. The Australian pigeon equivalent are some huge cockatoos and they were jumping on peoples shoulders in the cafe trying to get their food!

We also drove through a town where a group of kangaroos hang out on the golf green because it has top quality grass. We tried to go and sneak a peek but there were signs everywhere saying people were not allowed to come and see them as it was a big posh-looking golf club. We made a hasty getaway as we were pretty conspicuous in our campervan, but we did manage to see some kangaroos chilling under the trees and lounging on the green whilst people played golf right next to them.

We had a couple of days in Geelong where we did a coastal walk and saw some beautiful scenery and spent some time lying by the beach. Torquay is a really pretty town, with cafes along the sea front and lots of green areas with BBQs, etc. We also saw our first surfer dudes and their specially adapted vans - they rip out the back and put in a bed or a futon and change them into a sort of hippie den - they were quite cool!

After some days chilling we were mentally prepared for our first drive into a city (I say we, but really it was all Mike braving it!) - on to Melbourne!

On to Melbourne!!
